Cornell History: Bronfenbrenner born

Urie Bronfenbrenner ’38 is born in Moscow. A co-founder of the national Head Start program, he was also credited with creating the interdisciplinary field of human ecology and was widely regarded as one of the world’s leading scholars in developmental psychology. Bronfenbrenner spent most of his professional career at Cornell, from 1948 until his death in 2005. Cornell’s Life Course Institute was renamed the Bronfenbrenner Life Course Center in 1993.
