Online graduate engineering program ranked No. 8

Cornell has risen to the No. 8 spot on U.S. News & World Report’s 2016 ranking of Best Online Graduate Engineering Programs, thanks to the strength of Systems Engineering’s M.Eng. Distance Learning program.

The program is Cornell Engineering’s only online graduate degree and has quickly earned a national reputation after launching only six years ago. The program was designed for professionals who want to earn a master’s degree while employed.

U.S. News lists the M.Eng. program’s flexibility for completion and eight-credit project experience as distinguishing characteristics. It also notes that the program offers the same degree and classes offered to on-campus students, and 100 percent of students taking the online courses are working professionals, mostly from Fortune 500 companies.

The ranking was based on five categories, including student engagement, faculty credentials and training, peer reputation, admission selectivity, and student services and technology.
