Public impeachment hearings to offer check on 'imperial presidency'

The House of Representatives will begin a series of public hearings on Wednesday in the ongoing impeachment inquiry directed at President Trump. First to testify will be acting ambassador to Ukraine, William B. Taylor Jr., followed by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent.


Douglas L. Kriner

Professor of Government

Douglas Kriner is a professor of government at Cornell University and author of the book “Investigating the President: Congressional Checks on Presidential Power.” His research focuses on the unilateral powers of the presidency and the checks that guard against an imperial presidency. He is available to discuss the public impeachment hearings and how they might influence continued congressional oversight of the president.
