Come play Cornell-designed computer games

Sit down and play computer games and explore 3-D interactive environments that you have probably never seen before. Try out new, motion-sensitive game controllers not yet commercially available. Families and children are welcome.

It will all be on display at the Computer Game and Technology Showcase, Wednesday, May 10, from 3 to 6 p.m. in 361 Upson Hall. The event is a production of the Cornell Game Design Initiative.

The games are the creation of more than 80 students in CIS 300, which brings together teams of programmers, artists and musicians to create original games. Middle school and high school interns also worked on some of the projects, mentored by Cornell students.

The event, which is sponsored by the Department of Computer Science with funding from the Intelligent Information Systems Institute and assistance from the Cornell Engineering Communications Program, the Theory Center's SciCentr and the Cornell University Library, is free and open to the public.

More information is available at http://gdiac.cis.cornell.edu. In a few days, the new games will be available for download there.
