Nominations sought for 2009 Rhodes professorship

Nominations for the Frank H.T. Rhodes Class of 1956 Professorship are now being sought from all members of the Cornell community, including faculty, staff, students, alumni and Cornell groups and organizations. By bringing to campus outstanding individuals from every walk of life, the Rhodes professorships are designed to strengthen the undergraduate experience at Cornell.

The term of appointment for nominees, to be approved in May 2009, will begin July 1, 2009. Candidate names and supporting statements should be submitted to Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Michele Moody-Adams and Edna Dugan, assistant vice president of Student and Academic Services, co-chairs of the West Campus Council Committee on the Rhodes Class of 1956 Professorship, at rhodes56professorship@cornell.edu, or mailed to the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, 433 Day Hall, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, 14853, by Wednesday, Oct. 15.

Nominations should include a copy of the nominee's curriculum vitae or resume, along with a nomination letter. The nomination letter should elaborate on the nominee's qualifications for consideration as a Rhodes professor and provide a description of how the nominee would contribute to the undergraduate experience at Cornell.
