JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Big Red men's basketball team left sunny Ithaca for rainy Florida March 17. Gray skies and a light drizzle greeted them on the tarmac after an easy two-and-a-half-hour chartered flight to Jacksonville, where they'll play in the first round of the NCAA tournament. They touched down two days prior to game day to prepare for battle with Temple University -- whose plane came in around the same time as the Big Red's.

Upon arrival, the team received the same royal treatment by local authorities as in years past -- a bus ride straight from the airport tarmac, and an elaborate police escort that bobbed and weaved through moderate downtown Jacksonville traffic to deliver them quickly to their hotel.

The team will head to Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena Thursday for media day, which includes press conferences, an open shoot-around and other events. The game is Friday at 12:30 p.m. EDT.
