CIT adds eduroam WiFi service for cross-campus connectivity

Users of Cornell WiFi hotspots have a new option, eduroam, offering the same connectivity as RedRover Secure with a bonus: Once registered on eduroam, you will be able to connect at dozens of other universities and research institutions across the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia. In turn, visitors from those institutions will be able to connect here.

Download and install eduroam software here. The service works with Windows 7, XP and Vista, Mac OS 10.5 and 10.6, iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. At home or away, signing in requires your full NetID@cornell.edu address, not just the NetID.

This summer eduroam is in the "pilot" stage on the Ithaca and Geneva campuses, but not yet in New York City. Weill and Ithaca users will continue to use RedRover Secure and WMC Secure, each recognized on both campuses.

Find the list of eduroam institutions at http://www.eduroam.org.
