Skorton to testify before Senate subcommittee on immigration July 26

Cornell President David J. Skorton will testify before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Refugees and Border Security on July 26 at 10 a.m. in Room 226, Dirksen Senate Office Building, Washington, D.C.

Skorton, representing the education sector and speaking on behalf of the Association of American Universities, will encourage Congress to make changes to immigration policies that allow more highly skilled foreign scientists, engineers, computer scientists, mathematicians and entrepreneurs, many of whom were educated in this country, to join the U.S. workforce.

Skorton will speak as a member of the panel "High Skilled Immigration as a Driver for Economic Growth" at the hearing entitled "The Economics Imperative for Enacting Immigration Reform."
