Panel to examine immigration reform April 19

Immigration Reform Debate – a University Perspective will be held April 19 at 2:30 p.m. in Room 390, Myron Taylor Hall.

President David Skorton will speak about economic and educational issues related to STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) graduate degree holders. He will be joined by UCLA law professor Hiroshi Motomura, who will discuss how the United States should deal with its estimated 11 million undocumented non-citizens.

Skorton and Motomura will be joined by Cornell professor of government Michael Jones-Correa and adjunct law professor Stephen Yale-Loehr for a panel discussion on immigration reform.

The event is open to the public and will be live-streamed online.

Working with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Partnership for a New American Economy and the National Immigration Forum, Skorton and other college presidents announced in March that they will host events on their respective campuses to highlight the role of immigration in driving innovation and creating American jobs April 19.

The panel is sponsored by the Cornell Institute for European Studies, Cornell Law School, Latino Studies program, Institute for the Study of Social Issues and the Institute for German Cultural Studies.
