Homecoming 2013 extends its usual weekend run to an entire week of activities on campus, culminating in the football game against Bucknell Saturday, Sept. 21, at 3 p.m.

Cornell Homecoming 2013 is poised to be unlike any other. Traditionally, events and activities are focused on a single weekend. This year’s Homecoming will deliver events and Big Red excitement all week long.

Each day from Sept. 16 to 20 there will be events on Ho Plaza from noon to 1 p.m., including a Red Cross-sponsored blood drive and an athlete dunk tank.

On Friday, Sept. 20, the weekend celebration kick off with a free fireworks and laser light show at Schoellkopf Stadium beginning at 7:30 p.m., with dance troupes from Cornell and the Ithaca community and music by DJ Double A. Free and open to the public.

Festivities continue Sept. 21 with the Big Red Fan Festival from noon to 3 p.m. in Schoellkopf’s Crescent Lot. The event features live music, free Ferris wheel rides, and beer, wine and food available for purchase. At Lynah Rink parking lot a Family Fun Zone will offer demonstrations and activities from the university’s colleges and units. Guests can expect a carousel, face painting and a grape stomp.

The Big Red take on the Bucknell Bison Sept. 21 at 3 p.m. The football game is free to students with a Big Red Sports Pass, and each Cornell staff member is eligible for two free tickets. Alumni can take advantage of a special $5 ticket price by pre-registering through the Homecoming website.

Other events during Homecoming Weekend include the dedication of the Big Red Band Building Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and the Glee Club concert Saturday at 8 p.m.  See more details at http://www.homecoming.cornell.edu.
