Assemblies Update, Week of Nov. 4

Following are brief reports from the Student Assembly (SA), Graduate and Professional Student Assembly (GPSA), Employee Assembly (EA) and University Assembly (UA). For more information, including meeting agendas, minutes and audio recordings, visit http://assembly.cornell.edu.

Recent meetings:

  • SA: Oct. 31. United Student Body resolution, diversity and inclusion progress, Web accessibility and community life initiatives were discussed. SAFC update focusing on special projects was presented. Appropriations committee recommendations were presented. President David Skorton’s response to R. 18: Diversity plan was discussed and an amended version was passed. R. 16: Revision of Arts and Sciences government pre-enrollment was discussed. R. 17: Adding student trustees as ex-officio members was presented.
  • GPSA: Nov. 4. Reports from the following committees were presented: executive, appropriation, communications, student advocacy, faculty awards, and diversity and international students. The student activity fee recommendation for 2014-16 was presented. Skorton and Joe Burke of Residential Programs presented.
  • EA: Nov. 6. The Assemblies Oct. 30 leadership breakfast was discussed. Updates on the upcoming visit from Skorton and Vice President Mary Opperman and the CARE fund were presented. Election planning, employee recognition, the Opperman award and the department scorecard for best practices were discussed.

  • UA: Nov. 12, 4:30 p.m., 401 Physical Sciences. Skorton will visit.
  • SA: Nov. 14, 4:45 p.m., Memorial Room, Willard Straight Hall
