The ExxonMobil Foundation has given Cornell $466,555 through its Educational Matching Gifts Program.

Elissa Sterry ’79, M.Eng. ’80, vice president of the intermediates unit of ExxonMobil Chemical, presented the check to Lance Collins, dean of the College of Engineering, during the Engineering College Council dinner April 3.

The grant is the result of a three-to-one match of donations by the foundation to gifts made by ExxonMobil employees, retirees and surviving spouses, many of whom are Cornell alumni.

The ExxonMobil Foundation reported that its matching gifts program this year netted $13.7 million in donations to 866 institutions, resulting in a total of $30.5 million in education grants. The foundation is working to improve U.S. math and science education through such programs.
