Slope Day board to hold open forum Oct. 5

To make the Slope Day music and artist selection process more transparent, the Slope Day Programming Board will host an open forum for students, faculty and staff Monday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. in G-01 Uris Hall.

“The forum will allow the entire Cornell community to learn and understand the selection process that the Slope Day Programming Board uses to choose the Slope Day artist,” said Samantha Batt ’16, the board’s executive director. The board also will discuss restrictions faced when selecting an artist.

Last spring, Slope Day featured Chance the Rapper and Magic. In 2014, the featured acts were Ludacris, and Matt and Kris.

Board members Pamela Divack ’18 and August Larmer DiFilippo ’17 will present the top artist names from a recent student survey who fit the board’s criteria. Forum attendees will have the opportunity to give additional input.

The board is hoping that this presentation will give students a better understanding of viable performers and give them the opportunity to learn firsthand about the selection process.

At the meeting, Cornell community members will have the opportunity to ask questions. Students who are interested in joining the board or have questions should email slopeday@cornell.edu.
