Pi Kappa Alpha put on probationary recognition

Executive Director of Campus and Community Engagement Joseph A. Burke issued the following statement May 10:

Effective immediately, interim suspension of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, which was imposed March 3, 2017, is lifted, and the chapter is placed on probationary status, for a period of one year, as a result of incidents determined to include hazing and alcohol consumption. The chapter will be required to fulfill a comprehensive plan for improvement that they created and submitted to the Review Board. The plan includes anti-hazing education, a membership review, redeveloping components of the new member process, reaffirming their commitment to a live-in advisor, and increased oversight at social events. If the chapter is found responsible for a material violation of community policies or protocol during the period of Probationary Recognition Status, chapter recognition will be reconsidered.
