Cornellians challenged to ‘spring into well-being’

Cornell Wellness and Cornell Recreational Services are offering a new challenge this year to help Cornell faculty, staff, students, retirees, spouses and partners focus on their well-being: the “Spring into Wellbeing Challenge.”

Those interested can register for the challenge for the full four weeks, April 9 through May 6, or they can register on a rolling basis for any of the four weeks. Each week will be dedicated to two of the eight dimensions of well-being, as chosen by the contest sponsors: social, occupational, physical, spiritual, environmental, financial, emotional and intellectual.

Each Monday of the contest, participants will be emailed a list of approximately 14 challenges that fall under that week’s two dimensions. Participants will select one challenge apiece from both dimensions, and will have until midnight on Sunday of that week to complete them.

For example, the week that focuses on the dimensions of social and occupational well-being might include the following two of 14 options:

  • Social well-being: Reach out to a friend, family member or social group that you miss. Tell them you miss them and spend time catching up.
  • Occupational well-being: Explore educational courses or talks available through one or more of the following: Ted.com, Lynda.com, Skillsoft, eCornell or CU Learn.

Participants successfully completing all four weeks of challenges will be entered into a drawing for two grand prize package giveaways, valued at approximately $100 each, at the end of the contest. Additionally, four prizewinners will be drawn each week and will receive giveaways (valued at $1 to $20 each). Pop-up challenges will also occur throughout the four weeks of the challenge.

Pop-up challenges will be announced through social media: Cornell Wellness FB, Big Red Rec FB, Big Red Rec Instagram, CU Big Red Rec Twitter. Event Hashtag #CornellWellbeing. Participants will have four days to complete each pop-up after it has been announced to be eligible for giveaways.
