In light of recent flood damage in nearby counties, the Office of Human Resources reminds Cornell staff and managers that the Emergency CARE Fund (Cornellians Aiding and Responding to Employees) is available for faculty and staff experiencing a sudden financial crisis, including support for incidents of fire or flood damage.
Employees can apply directly or a colleague or representative, such as a supervisor or manager, can apply on behalf of an employee.
This fund also is available for other emergencies – an event of such magnitude as to dislocate people, cause significant damage or destroy homes or otherwise cause an extraordinary, nonrecurring personal catastrophe or crisis, and result in a major financial burden.
The Emergency CARE Fund is funded through the donations of faculty, staff and others.
Applicants who are approved for funding can receive from $200 to $1,500, depending on the circumstances.
