Benefair attracts 500

More than 500 faculty and staff visited representatives and vendors at this year’s Benefair in the Biotechnology Building Nov. 6, while others attended workshops or received their annual flu vaccine. Benefair is held each year during the open enrollment period for endowed employees to assist all employees with benefits questions and concerns.

Benefits open enrollment for endowed faculty and staff will end at 4 p.m., EST, Monday, Nov. 19, for coverage effective Jan. 1, 2019.

Cornell staff member David Dietterich talks with Kathy Eliason from the Cayuga Medical Center.

The annual open enrollment period is the only time endowed employees can enroll in or make changes to health and dental plan coverage (including adding or removing dependents) unless they experience a qualifying life event. It’s also the only time of year to enroll or re-enroll in an FSA for medical or dependent care. Legal insurance is also part of open enrollment but runs Nov. 1 through Dec. 31.

Enrolling is easier than ever. The improved endowed enrollment website uses five simple questions to consider and provides resources to help you plan.

Contract college staff and faculty can make health plan changes and enroll in a flexible spending account (FSA) during a separate Option Transfer Period later in November, dates to be determined.
