Stephen Hawking for the win

Rachel Gordon ’08 returned to The Hill for Reunion $7,400 richer. On the June 4 episode of TV quiz show “Jeopardy!,” the D.C.-area lawyer won her first round in a thriller matchup.
Citing her “liberal sciences” interdisciplinary Cornell degree in food science, Gordon felt prepared to tackle questions “Jeopardy!” threw at her. She was only able to buzz in nine times (getting eight answers correct). But she made up for it in the end – gaining the lead after recovering from a nearly $16,000 deficit going into the final round.
Gordon was the only contestant to answer the final question correctly, wagering $1,200 on her winning answer, “Who is Stephen Hawking?”
“Being able to celebrate my win with my classmates [at Reunion] made it even more exciting for me,” Gordon said. “I know how excited and proud I feel when I learn that a Cornellian has done something amazing, so I feel honored that I was able to share this moment.”
