What's new, pussycat?

"If there is a stylish product made for cats, chances are Kate Benjamin owns it or has written about it. Or both."

So writes the New York Times in a profile of Benjamin '93, who began blogging about cats in 2007 and turned her love of felines into a business. Benjamin, who lives in Phoenix with 11 cats, quit her marketing job to make the cat toys and accessories sold on her website, Hauspanther, "the premiere online magazine for design-conscious people."

"As the tattoo on her arm announces, Ms. Benjamin is positioning herself as a cat lady for a new generation," the Times writes. "A vegan with Bettie Page bangs, she has upended the old stereotype of the frumpy, middle-aged woman surrounded by cats. And her two-bedroom townhouse here is a showcase of the latest in feline interior design."
