This fall, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences welcomed eight new faculty members, whose collective expertise will boost the college’s commitment to purpose-driven science and support Cornell’s mission to improve the quality of life for people in New York, the nation and around the world.
The new faculty members include alumna John M. Doris ’86, the Peter L. Dyson Professor of Ethics in Organizations and Life in the Dyson School of Economics and Management. As part of his joint appointment with the Sage School of Philosophy, Doris studies moral psychology and the science behind what makes people do good or evil.
The new cohort also includes biologist Yi Athena Ren, Ph.D. ’11, assistant professor in the Department of Animal Science. Her research examines the way different parts of the body use hormones to communicate with each other, regarding both reproduction and the biological basis of diseases like ovarian cancer.
“Our new faculty reflect the very best of CALS and its mission as a premier institution of scientific learning, teaching and inspiring the next generation of global citizens,” said Kathryn J. Boor ’80, the Ronald P. Lynch Dean. “Attracting and retaining world-class faculty is a top priority for me as a dean.”
