In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, arXiv now offers a quick-search link to all coronavirus and COVID-19 research hosted on the site. The search results are sorted by date, with the most recent papers at the top of the list.

Also new on arXiv is an external link to medRxiv and bioRxiv preprints about the coronavirus and COVID-19.

“In times like these, we need global collaboration in research and shared knowledge among different disciplines,” said Eleonora Presani, arXiv executive director. “arXiv allows researchers from different backgrounds and geographical locations to quickly share their findings and push forward for the discoveries we need. It is an ideal platform for researchers to communicate with each other when speed is of extreme importance.”

arXiv is a free, fast and open-access scholarly research distribution service. Online communication is particularly relevant now, with researchers isolated due to travel restrictions and conference cancellations.

“In the context of a pandemic … it is crucial to get information to people quickly, and arXiv provides a shared infrastructure and community to get scientific research to those who can make a difference,” said Greg Morrisett, the Jack and Rilla Neafsey Dean and Vice Provost of Cornell Tech.

As with other preprint servers, research published on arXiv is neither peer-reviewed nor specifically endorsed. Official coronavirus and COVID-19 health information, policies and resources for the general public can be found at the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and information specific to Cornell at cornell.edu/coronavirus.
