Global Cornell project seeks stories of race, racism

Racism and ethnic hatred afflict nearly every place in the world, but the unequal dynamics of race, ethnicity, origin and caste take many forms. Crossing borders – across the world or closer to home – can reveal what’s unique about our experience of race and racism and what we all share.

Race and Racism Across Borders is an opportunity for Cornell students and alumni to join a campus conversation about global experiences of race. The initiative is sponsored by Global Cornell.

Undergraduates, graduate and professional students and alumni are invited to submit short essays, poems or visual art reflecting on their personal experience of race, crossing borders and finding their own place in the world.

Submissions are due Nov. 9. Selected submissions will receive an honorarium of $100 and be published on Global Cornell websites and social media channels.
