Professor of Practice

Noele Nelson, a professor of practice in the Department of Public & Ecosystem Health at Cornell University, is a hepatitis B expert and served as a senior author on the CDC’s previous guidelines for the vaccine.

Nelson says: 

“The executive order issued today is an unfortunate attack on the U.S. immunization schedule without scientific evidence to justify the changes. This represents a continuation of efforts by the current administration to align the U.S. schedule with other countries without accounting for U.S. disease epidemiology, well-studied strong vaccine efficacy, and safety, and immunological data supporting the current timing and sequence of vaccine administration.

“Informed consent is already an integral component of vaccine delivery in the United States. This executive order has the potential to further erode public trust in vaccines and undermine informed decision making.”
