“This ruling sets a dangerous precedent that local governments can’t regulate the employment conditions in specific industries. Since the New Deal, Congress reserved the right of state and local governments to expand on federal minimum employment standards..
“In a world where AI and algorithms are increasingly determining whether workers keep or lose their job, it is essential that we have human review of these decisions. NYC attempted to do that with this just cause deactivation law and this ruling put this at risk.”
