There are reports of a drafted plan coming from the EPA that will seek to repeal the 2009 declaration known as the “endangerment finding,” scientifically establishing greenhouse gases endanger human lives.

Robert Howarth, a professor of ecology and environmental biology at Cornell University, studies the greenhouse gas footprint of methane extracted from shale formations and liquified natural gas.

Howarth says:

“For the EPA to repeal the 2009 finding borders on criminal negligence. The science was clear in 2009 and has become much stronger and clearer since: climate disruption is a large and growing problem; it is caused primarily from our use of fossil fuels and the resultant emissions of carbon dioxide and methane; and it is a deadly problem.

“Climate disruption makes storms larger and more intense; it makes fires larger and more intense; it makes floods larger and more intense. And it reduces agricultural productivity globally. Moving forward, unless the world takes urgent action to move away from fossil fuels, these problems will only grow and become more deadly.
