Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Public & Ecosystem Health

Alistair Hayden is a former division chief of the California Earthquake Early Warning Program at the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services and a professor of practice in public and ecosystem health at Cornell University.

Hayden says:

“Earthquakes are no-notice events, meaning residents of earthquake country need to prepare beforehand, which includes learning how to ‘Drop, Cover, and Hold On.’

“Emergency managers regularly rehearse for these scenarios so they can jump into supporting our communities on a moment's notice.

“MyShake is a great app to receive alerts and information directly on your phone, and earthquake.usgs.gov is my go-to for the latest scientific data on earthquake locations worldwide.”

Cornell University has television, ISDN and dedicated Skype/Google+ Hangout studios available for media interviews.
