The Buffalo Bills have signed quarterback and NFL MVP Josh Allen to a reported six-year, $330 million extension, featuring a record-breaking $250 million in guaranteed money—the largest guaranteed sum ever given to an NFL player.

Huyghue says:

“As national television and streaming revenues continue to drive the NFL’s salary cap to record setting numbers, key players (quarterbacks in particular) will be the beneficiaries of the magnitude of deals previously only seen in the NBA and MLB.

“While Josh Allen’s new record-breaking contract extension seems astronomical in comparison to previous NFL deals, at only 75% guaranteed, it hardly compares to the more traditional fully guaranteed deals the NBA and MLB continue to provide star players.”
