Fatal deer disease on NY’s doorstep as PA reports case

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture recently announced a white-tailed deer in northwestern Pennsylvania, only five miles from the New York border, tested positive for chronic wasting disease (CWD). Krysten Schuler, wildlife disease ecologist and one of the top researchers regarding CWD, says this positive CWD case will require a thorough investigation to make sure it did not infect wild deer in New York.
