The three-month public comment period has begun on the draft environmental impact statement for a new medical waste-management facility at the College of Veterinary Medicine. Estimated to cost approximately $6 million and funded by the State University Construction Fund, the facility would replace the college's incinerator to treat pathological waste and regulated medical waste, and could begin operation in early 2005.
It fits on the head of a pin, contains no lenses or moving parts and costs pennies to make, and this Cornell-developed camera could revolutionize an array of science from surgery to robotics. (July 6, 2011)

Cornell University Police will have "zero tolerance" for people who don't wear their seatbelts during an enforcement campaign on campus April 22-26. Officers will conduct random road checks and issue tickets to drivers and passengers who are not "buckled up." This action follows an awareness campaign by Cornell Police for the past two weeks, during which they handed out warning brochures to motorists. (April 22, 2002)
