Cornell Board of Trustees elects Elizabeth D. Moore as a trustee fellow

Elizabeth D. Moore of Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., has been elected as a trustee fellow to a four-year term on the Cornell University Board of Trustees, beginning July 1.

Moore is a partner in the New York City law firm of Nixon Hargrave Devans & Doyle LLP in its labor and employee benefits practice group. She previously served as counsel to the governor of the state of New York (governor's chief legal adviser) and director of the governor's Office of Employee Relations. She also is a past chair of the New York State Ethics Commission, and she was first assistant counsel to Gov. Mario Cuomo and assistant counsel to Gov. Hugh Carey.

A 1975 graduate of Cornell's School of Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR), Moore has been a member of the President's Council of Cornell Women since 1992; she has served on the ILR School's Advisory Council since 1989 and currently is co-chair. She also is chair of the Committee on Alumni Trustee Nominations and a member of the ILR School's Alumni Executive Committee.

In 1990, the Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy presented Moore with the sixth annual John E. Burton Award for Distinguished Public Service. She also is vice-chair of the New York Urban League Board of Directors.

Moore will serve on the Cornell Board of Trustees' committees on Academic Affairs and Campus Life, Alumni Affairs and Development, and Land Grant and Statutory College Affairs.
