Cornell Tech, the New York City Mayor’s Office and the City University of New York launched a new winter internship program Oct. 11 as part of the Women in Technology and Entrepreneurship in New York (WiTNY) initiative.
Some Cornell classes are adopting the "Tree of Life" classification system, which explains the diversity of life by matching and mapping relationships on a branching diagram.
Events include a screening of “On the Basis of Sex” by Cornell Cinema, a free estate planning clinic, an exhibition of work by a student artist at the Seneca Place office building downtown, a panel discussion as part of the Cornell University Press sesquicentennial celebration, and a “Chats in the Stacks” book talk with English professor Daniel Schwarz.
Many Cornell faculty members use their own experience as first-generation college students to mentor their current first-gen students. Cornell offers numerous resources to empower first-gen students to thrive at college.

Assistant professors Jeremy Baskin, Song Lin and Brad Ramshaw have been named recipients of Alfred P. Sloan Foundation fellowships, supporting early-career faculty members’ original research and broad-based education related to science, technology and economic performance.
