Professor Andrew H. Bass has been named associate vice provost for research, effective June 1. Bass, professor of neurobiology and behavior, will review the animal care program, among other tasks.
Harold Tanner, a 1952 graduate of Cornell and president of Tanner & Co. Inc. of New York, was unanimously elected chairman of the university's Board of Trustees at its first meeting of 1997 in New York City on Saturday, Jan. 25.

Keith "Wonderboy" Johnson and the Spiritual Voices out of New York City will headline the 28th annual Festival of Black Gospel at Cornell University, Saturday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. in Anabel Taylor Hall on campus. Admission for the performance is $4. Saturday's concert is just one of the features of this year's festival -- Friday, Feb. 20, to Sunday, Feb. 22 -- which include a three-on-three basketball tournament, the concert by the featured artists, the annual Mass Choir and a Sunday service. Feminist sex writer Susie Bright has donated her archival materials to Cornell Library's Human Sexuality Collection, celebrating its 25th anniversary. Bright will speak on campus Jan. 23.
