Mexico’s new plan for ‘food sovereignty’ is fundamentally flawed

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum is rolling out an agricultural plan aimed at achieving “food sovereignty” by increasing production of staple items such as tortillas, beans, instant coffee and cheap hot chocolate. A key feature of the plan would be guaranteeing prices for farmers who grow corn used for tortillas.
