The Division of Human Resources and the Employee Assembly hosted the 26th annual Staff Graduate Reception on June 14 in Stocking Hall, honoring staff who earned collegiate degrees this year, either at Cornell or another institution.
Starting with renowned local artist Maddy Walsh, summer concerts return to the Arts Quad, July 1, 8 and 15, beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is free for all concerts.
Nigel Lockyer, an accomplished physicist and laboratory leader, has been selected as the new director at the Cornell Laboratory for Accelerator-based Sciences and Education (CLASSE). Lockyer comes to Cornell with a wealth of experience in physics and accelerator sciences, having most recently served as the director of the Fermi National Accelerator Lab (Fermilab).
Christopher James Cowen, senior vice president and chief financial officer at the University of Florida in Gainesville, has been named Cornell’s next executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective July 1.
The Einhorn Center for Community Engagement’s new Academic Initiatives team will focus on the Engaged College Initiative, faculty development and global engagement programming, and research examining the institutional impacts of community-engaged learning.
In her annual Address to Staff on Jan. 11 – Ezra Cornell’s 216th birthday – President Martha E. Pollack highlighted achievements that are helping to sustain and re-imagine the university’s founding “… any person … any study” vision.
