It took 100 years to develop, but this multi-flavored melange was worth the wait. To celebrate the centennial of Cornell University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), the university's dairy has created an ice cream it calls Bailey's Creme with Henry's Crunch. Its flavor is Irish cream and it is combined with dark chocolate flakes, caramel and peanuts. The ice cream will be unveiled -- with free samples -- on May 12 following an afternoon parade across the campus to celebrate the college's centennial. (May 4, 2004)
Cornell is sponsoring a regional conference to foster new farm-to-school links and to strengthen networks among farmers, school dining-service buyers, processors, distributors, educators and policy-makers. The conference, Farm-to-School Cafeteria: Partnerships for Improving Health, Supporting Farms and Building Community.

On three evenings last week, when most students were cramming for exams and writing papers, a handful came together to raise awareness about the slaughter of innocent civilians in the Darfur region of western Sudan, where genocide on the scale of that in Rwanda 10 years ago is taking place. Sponsored by the Darfur Action Group, a student group on campus, "Documenting Darfur" featured back-to-back three-hour showings of films and videos about the tragedy, on May 9, 10 and 11 in 165 McGraw Hall.
More than 90 percent of all businesses in this country are family businesses, which makes them an integral part of the American economy. Strengthening these family firms will be the focus of a upcoming conference.
