Top corporate strategist Orit Gadiesh to speak at Cornell Sept. 7

Orit Gadiesh, an international expert on management and corporate strategy, will give a talk on that topic at Cornell University Thursday, Sept. 7, at 5 p.m.
Her address is titled "Keeping Your Bearings in the Business World." It will take place in Schwartz Auditorium, Rockefeller Hall. The talk is part of the Johnson Graduate School of Management Park Leadership Speakers Series and is free and open to the public.
Gadiesh is chair of the board of Bain & Co., considered one of the world's "blue-chip" strategy consulting firms. She has worked with hundreds of CEOs and senior executives of major international companies on structuring and managing portfolios, developing and implementing global strategy, executing turnarounds and improving organizational effectiveness.
She has published articles on corporate strategy in such prestigious journals as the Harvard Business Review and has been a faculty member at Hebrew University and the Jerusalem Institute. She led a trade mission to Israel for Massachusetts Gov. William Weld in 1994 and earlier served in the office of the deputy chief of staff of the Israeli army.
Gadiesh holds degrees from Hebrew University, Jerusalem (B.A., summa cum laude), and the Harvard Business School (MBA, with highest honors).
She serves on a number of corporate and nonprofit boards, including those of the Harvard Business School, the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania), the Kellogg School (Northwestern University), the Harvard Medical School Advisory Council for Cell Biology and Pathology, the Peres Institute for Peace, the United States Council on Foreign Relations, the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and the Governor's Board of Economic Advisers in Massachusetts. She won the 1997 New Englander of the Year award, the 2000 Harvard Business School Alumni Achievement Award, and B'nai B'rith's Distinguished Achievement Award.
During her visit to Cornell, Gadiesh will be a guest speaker in Assistant Professor David Sally's Management and Organization class.
