o Thomas Gold Lecture: April 25 (Thursday) 4:30 p.m., Schwarz Auditorium of Rockefeller Hall.

Astronomer Frank Shu will present the Thomas Gold Lecture on "The formation of sun-like stars and planetary systems." Shu, university professor in the University of California system, has been named president and professor of physics at National Tsinghua University, Taiwan. o Flemmie Kittrell Lecture : April 30 (Tuesday) 3:15 p.m., 380 Martha Van Rensselaer Hall.

Rupert Nacoste, professor of psychology and vice provost for diversity and African-American affairs at North Carolina State University (NCSU), will give the College of Human Ecology's annual Flemmie Kittrell Lecture, "As Affirmative Action Lay Dying." An open reception will be held outside the lecture room at 2:45 p.m.

Nacoste conducts research on the social psychology of affirmative action. For the past three summers, he has been a visiting scholar at the Department of Defense's Equal Opportunity Management Institute, where he researches and makes research-based recommendations about equal opportunity in the armed forces.
