'Bringing Technologies to the Marketplace' is theme of 2006 engineering alumni conference

Technology leaders, venture capitalists and intellectual property experts who have been successful in getting their products to market in today's environment will share their experience with students, faculty and other aspiring entrepreneurs at the annual Cornell Engineering Alumni Association Conference, which begins Thursday, April 20, at 4:30 p.m. and ends with a luncheon buffet Saturday, April 22. The conference, titled "Accelerating Innovation: Bringing Emerging Technologies to the Marketplace," also features faculty members who are working on future innovations.

Registration is required for all events and is open to the public. There is a registration fee. Participants can register online at http://www.ceaa.cornell.edu.

"In today's markets, where competition is increasingly global, speed to market is a major key to success and failure. In today's environment in which not getting it right the first time can be very expensive, it is even more important," said conference chairman Ashok Bakhru, M.E. '65 and president of ABN Associates.

Speakers include: Jesse Jenner, partner, Ropes & Gray; Shaygan Kheradpir, chief information officer, Verizon; Gretchen Knoell, partner, Lake Street Capital, LLC; Doug Leone, partner, Sequoia Capital; Mark Little, director, GE Global Research; Yrjo Neuvo, senior vice president, Nokia Corp.; Padmasree Warrior, executive vice president and chief technology officer, Motorola; Rebecca Robertson, partner, Versant Ventures; and a panel of representatives from Xerox, Kodak and Agilent.

An employers' showcase will enable companies to display information for students, faculty and alumni.
