Former Saudi ambassador to speak on campus

Prince Turki Al-Faisal, ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the United States from 2005 to 2007, will lecture on "What We Expect From America: A Saudi Perspective," April 23 at 4:30 p.m. in Statler Auditorium, Statler Hall.

The prince is a founder of the King Faisal Foundation and chairman of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies in Riyadh. He was appointed an adviser in the Saudi royal court in 1973. From 1977 to 2001, he served as the director general of the General Intelligence Directorate, the kingdom's main foreign intelligence service. In 2002 he was appointed ambassador to the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

The talk is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Cornell student group the Prince Turki Al-Faisal Welcome Committee, the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies, Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell Law School, KAUST-CU Center, Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, School of Hotel Administration, College of Engineering, Alice Cook House, Department of Near Eastern Studies, Department of Government, Cornell International Affairs Review, University Communications, and the Office of the Vice Provost for International Relations.
