Skorton and Davisson sleep over at Becker House
Cornell President David Skorton and his wife, Robin Davisson, professor of biomedical sciences, made an overnight visit to Becker House April 4. They joined West Campus house professors for drinks and hors d'oeuvres in the apartment of Becker House Dean Cindy Hazan, then enjoyed a vegetarian dinner with students at Willard Straight Hall at an Asha for Education event. Asha Cornell is a chapter of an international student group dedicated to improving the education of impoverished children in India.
After dinner students performed in the Becker House Common Room. They played a Steinway baby grand piano donated to the university last November by Helen "Happy" Reichert '25 on her 107th birthday. Carl Becker was one of Reichert's favorite professors.
Skorton and Davisson took on the Becker House Ping-Pong club, current holders of the West Campus title. Later, they traveled to the Hot Truck, which catered a party in Hazan's apartment.
On the morning of April 5, Skorton and Davisson met student members of Cornell University Becker in Service (CUBS) to walk dogs at the Tompkins County SPCA. After a brunch with students, the first couple participated in a discussion with the West Campus student sustainability group, which reported on the results of "blackout week."
