Marty Rauker named interim assistant vice president for student and academic services

S. Martin (Marty) Rauker has been named Cornell's interim assistant vice president for student and academic services. He follows LeNorman Strong, who became the University of California-Berkeley's associate vice chancellor for residential and student service programs in April. Rauker's appointment takes effect May 15.

"Campus Life is a key element for every Cornell student. Marty's experience with the organization and his wide range of managerial knowledge will allow us to maintain a high-caliber campus experience for students," says Susan Murphy, Cornell vice president for student and academic services. "I am so pleased that he is willing to take on these responsibilities in these challenging times."

Rauker has worked at Cornell for 10 years and has been the university's director of administrative services in the Campus Life unit.

In working for Campus Life, Rauker presided over the development of the Campus Life Student Advisory Committee, the Kosher-Multicultural Dining Program and staff development and recognition programs, in addition to his daily responsibilities of managing the administrative issues for this large department.

Rauker received his bachelor's degree in sociology from Ithaca College in 1974 and his master's degree in public administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 1989. He received the Chuck Jankey Mentoring Award from Cornell in 2007.
