Cornell Law, Shanghai's KoGuan Law School to collaborate
By Owen Lubozynski
Cornell Law School entered into an agreement of educational cooperation Aug. 30 with the KoGuan Law School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The agreement provides for student and faculty exchanges, academic and research collaborations such as conferences and writing projects, and cooperation on the development of both schools' law libraries.
Shanghai Jiao Tong University is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in China, and KoGuan has been ranked among the country's top 10 law schools. The agreement expands Chinese legal studies at Cornell. The Law School conducts student exchange programs with the University of Hong Kong and Peking University Law School in Beijing, and its Clarke Program in East Asian Law and Culture fosters collaboration across disciplines and cultures.
"We are committed to wide-ranging and meaningful programs with leading institutions in China, and this partnership with KoGuan Law School is an important part of our engagement," said Stewart Schwab, the Allan R. Tessler Dean and professor of law. "KoGuan is known for its innovative programs and commitment to scholarship, which makes it an attractive partner for us."
