Susan Kelley is features editor at the Cornell Chronicle.
I write and edit long-form stories that explore the many ways Cornell University benefits the people of New York state. I joined the Chronicle in 2005, when I was hired to write about Cornell’s administration, from newly hired vice presidents to increases in financial aid. I later covered social sciences, from economic theory to the importance of play for children.
In 2019, I began writing features on topics such as how buildings can behave like organisms, and Weill Cornell Medicine’s collaboration with a Tanzanian medical school to improve health care in East Africa.
Previously I worked at the Cornell Alumni Magazine, writing about how the university has shaped generations of students, at the University of Colorado, Boulder’s Leeds School of Business and the Burlington Free Press in Vermont.
