e-SHOP adds Amazon as supplier

Cornell e-SHOP users now are able to buy from Amazon for Business. Procurement and Payment Services has been piloting a program with Amazon in e-SHOP since September 2017 and has received positive customer feedback.

“We are excited to bring Amazon for Business to e-SHOP,” said Mike Winters, Cornell director of eBusiness. “It makes buying easier by expanding the number of products available in e-SHOP and by providing faculty and staff who don’t use a procurement card with an easy-to-use buying method for their Cornell business.”

Tom Romantic, senior director of Procurement and Payment Services, added: “Unlike other e-SHOP suppliers, we will not require that all Amazon purchases flow through e-SHOP, but we do believe the benefits are compelling. We expect great participation from those in the Cornell community who make purchases for Cornell business purposes.”

Shopping Amazon in e-SHOP provides the following benefits:

  • Free shipping to a Cornell address on orders for more than $25;
  • Easy identification of Amazon products in e-SHOP listing by the Prime logo;
  • No need to scan and submit pcard receipts when you use e-SHOP; Amazon submits invoices for you; and
  • No hassles resolving sales tax charges from third-party suppliers; Accounts Payable resolves the issue.

Look for Amazon on the e-SHOP home page listing of suppliers under Miscellaneous Goods & Services.

Romantic noted that the addition of Amazon for Business to e-SHOP is the latest of a number of customer-oriented enhancements Procurement and Payment Services has implemented to make the Cornell procurement process easier for customers. On Feb. 1, the university bid limit was increased to $25,000 and the e-SHOP transaction limit was increased to $1,500. Last October, an additional procurement card with a $1,500 transaction limit was added to the credit card program.
