Broadway director Sam Gold ’00 will join in a conversation with Professor David Feldshuh and offer an audition workshop for students during a campus visit March 24-25.

The conversation is March 24 at 7 p.m. in the Flex Theatre at the Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts, 430 College Ave., and is part of the Becker Lecture Series, which brings alumni to campus to share their experiences with students. The event is free and open to the public.

Students have already been chosen for the audition workshop, but the public is invited to attend that event as well, March 25 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Schwartz Center’s Class of ’56 Dance Theatre. Gold will offer feedback to students on scenes and monologues.

Gold won the Tony for best director in 2015 for the musical “Fun Home” and was nominated in 2017 as best director for the play “A Doll’s House, Part 2.” After graduating from Cornell, he earned a directing degree from Juilliard, then spent three years as a dramaturge and assistant director for The Wooster Group. His other recent directing credits include “The Glass Menagerie,” “The Realistic Joneses,” “The Village Bike,” “The Real Thing,” “John,” “The Mystery of Love and Sex” and “The Flick.”

At Cornell, Gold was an active performer and director, participating in the then-Department of Theatre, Film and Dance’s Advanced Undergraduate Theatre Program his senior year.
