Presidential Task Force on Campus Climate submits final reports
President Martha E. Pollack issued the following statement to the Ithaca campus June 8:
The Presidential Task Force on Campus Climate has now submitted a final report of recommendations from each of the three committees: campus experience; regulation of speech and harassment; and campus response. I am very appreciative of the care and thought that has gone into the report; the recommendations it contains will lead to actions that have a meaningful impact on our goals of creating a more inclusive, welcoming, and just campus.
Over the summer, my leadership team and I will carefully review the recommendations. In the fall, I will provide an update on our progress and overall implementation approach. I expect that some of the recommendations in the report, along with several of the diversity and inclusion initiatives underway since the fall semester, will already have been implemented by the start of the fall semester.
I would again like to thank the task force co-chairs, Lisa Nishii, associate professor of human resource studies in the ILR School and vice provost for undergraduate education; Eduardo Peñalver ’94, the Allan R. Tessler Dean and professor of law; and David Wooten, professor of marketing in the Dyson School and associate dean and chief diversity officer of the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, and all of the committee members for their tireless dedication to this process.
