Cornell Hillel's Board of Trustees has announced that Barbara Friedman '59 will be the first recipient of the Tanner Prize for her significant contributions to the Jewish people and to Cornell University. The prize will be given to Friedman at an honorary luncheon April 21 at the Cornell Club in New York City.
Cornell's statutory colleges will hold an Open House for prospective freshmen students on Saturday, Oct. 21, and a Transfer Day for prospective undergraduate transfer students on Friday, Nov. 3.

Muna B. Ndulo, professor of law at Cornell University Law School, has been named director of Cornell's Institute for African Development. Ndulo will continue as a Law School faculty member while holding his new position. He succeeds David B. Lewis, director of the institute since its inception.
Events this week include a concert in tribute to Cornell composer Robert Palmer; Cannes Film Festival Palme d'Or winners at Cornell Cinema; and a multimedia performance with Catherine Galasso '06.
