Cornell trustees executive committee to meet in New York City Sept. 12
By Jacquie Powers
The Cornell University Board of Trustees Executive Committee will meet in New York City on Thursday, Sept. 12. The meeting will be held in Room A/B of the Cornell Club of New York, 6 East 44th St., at 2 p.m.
In open session at the beginning of the meeting, the committee will vote on revised tuition rates for the university's four statutory colleges. Under the revised schedule, most students in the statutory colleges will see tuition reductions ranging from $125 to $305 per semester.
The board of trustees set tentative statutory tuition rates at its May 25 meeting, anticipating that a proposed $250 per year increase proposed in the governor's executive budget recommendations for the State University of New York (SUNY) would be approved by the state Legislature. The trustees added a stipulation that tuition rates would be reconsidered and adjusted as necessary when the state's final higher education allocation was approved. The proposed SUNY tuition increase was eliminated in the budget that was approved by the Legislature July 13.
The Buildings and Properties Committee will meet at 9 a.m. in Room A/B. During a brief open session at the beginning of the meeting, the committee will review the status of numerous renovation and utilities projects under way on campus.
A limited number of tickets to the meetings are available to the public from the Cornell Information and Referral Center at (607) 254-INFO, beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10.
