Cornell Board of Trustees to meet May 22-23

The Cornell Board of Trustees will meet in Ithaca on Friday, May 22, and Saturday, May 23.
The Executive Committee of the board will hold a brief open session at the start of its meeting at 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 22, in the Taylor Room of the Statler Hotel on campus. The open session will include a discussion of the 1999-2000 operating and capital budget plans for the statutory colleges.
The full board will convene on Saturday, May 23, at 9 a.m. in the Trustee Meeting Room of the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art.
During the board's open session, which will adjourn at approximately 10:30 a.m., the board will hear a report from President Hunter Rawlings; a report from Provost Don Randel on the transition of faculty to emeritus status; and the annual report from Associate Provost Winnie Taylor on the status of women, American Indians, Asian Americans, African Americans and Hispanic Americans. The 1998-99 financial plan and statutory college budget also will be presented.
Three other committees also will have open sessions on Friday:
- The Buildings and Properties Committee will meet beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Yale-Princeton Room of the Statler Hotel to discuss the status of ongoing projects and the five-year capital plan for the statutory campus.
- The Committee on Land Grant and Statutory College Affairs will meet at 2 p.m. in the Yale-Princeton Room. The committee will hear updates on the state budget, state and federal relations and statutory tuitions.
- The Committee on Academic Affairs and Campus Life will meet at noon in the Taylor Room for discussion of a report on the 1998 graduation rate and curriculum in the School of Hotel Administration.
A limited number of tickets for the open sessions of the Executive Committee and full board will be available starting at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at the Information and Referral desk in the lobby of Day Hall. No tickets are needed for the open sessions of the other committees.
