Cornell officials react to arrest in 'Collegetown Creeper' case

A statement was issued by Tommy Bruce, Cornell University vice president for communications and media relations, on today's arrest of a suspect in the so-called "Collegetown Creeper" case.

"We are relieved that an arrest has been made in this case. We know that this is the result of dedicated police work and investigation by the City of Ithaca Police Department, assisted by Cornell University Police, and we commend their efforts.

"But, we also want to continue to caution our students and other residents of the area to follow common-sense personal safety measures in their daily lives and to remain vigilant. Use window shades and lock windows and doors. Be observant of your surroundings, and look out for each other. And call the police if you see or sense something suspicious. Attention to personal safety must go hand-in-hand with law enforcement efforts."
